President Edgar Lungu is protecting Dr Chitalu Chilufya – Chilufya Tayali.

The EEP President Mr Chilufya Tayali has accused the president of protecting the health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya. This is because of what happened in Zimbabwe where the Health Minister Dr. Obadiah Moyo was fired over alleged involvement in the $60 million COVID-19 scandal.

Mr Chilufya said the embattled minister was arrested last month, just like Chitalu Chilufya, for allegedly awarding a lucrative tender to Drax International for the supply of COVID-19 drugs and personal protective equipment, despite being fully aware that the company was not a pharmaceutical entity but a consultancy firm.

President Mnangagwa could not dismiss Dr. Moyo until pressure was mounted by Zimbabwean anti-corruption organizations and political parties who are demanding the president to fire all his corrupt government officials.

July 31 has was set as the day for a “national protest” against corruption and political challenges. This has unsettled President Mnangagwa and acted to fire his minister of health.

“I don’t like protests, but President Lungu is taking us for granted, that we will talk and just forget as it has happened on many issues, maybe we should also protest so the president can act and fire the minister for corruption aligations.” He said.

“Why is President Lungu shielding his ministers by making it difficult for the ACC to do their job?
How can the ACC prosecute this case when Chitalu Chilufya is sitting on evidence and intimidating potential witnesses under his ministries.” Tayali asked.

He further said we cannot continue living like this, where Government officials are taken to court for absolution for whatever allegations.

“I am not going to rest over this, if it will have to take me being jailed on behalf of Chitalu Chilufya, it shall be.” He said “Why is President Lungu shielding his ministers by making it difficult for the ACC to do their job?
